Taylor Brothers Marine Construction Company, Inc. was founded in
1978 by Julius Taylor Jr., PE. After graduating from North Carolina
State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering, he was employed in the areas of aircraft repair, chemical
plant maintenance and engineering, and heavy civil construction. His
job experience includes work in coastal North Carolina and the Middle
East (Saudi Arabia). The founding of Taylor Brothers Marine was the
result of his long time ambition to utilize his widely varying
industrial work experience coupled with his coastal origins.
The company’s management and supervisory personnel have extensive
“hands-on” experience in steel fabrication, industrial piping, concrete
construction and pile driving on land as well as on water. These
capabilities make the company well suited for work on marine projects
that require piers and docks with additional mechanical equipment and
piping as found on tanker loading/unloading facilities, as well as
container crane foundations and crane rail work.
The company’s main office is located in Beaufort, NC which includes
in excess of 9,000 square feet of shop space located on 6 acres of
industrial zoned property. In addition, the company‘s 2 acre barge
landing and storage area on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway is
located within 1 mile of the shop. An office is also located in
Wilmington, NC where the majority of heavier marine terminal work has
taken place in recent years. With facilities located near the two North
Carolina ports, two large Marine Corps bases, Coast Guard stations, and
Army Corps of Engineers locales, as well as being centrally located
between the ports of Norfolk, Va and Charleston, SC, the company is
ideally located to respond to and service clients in all marine areas.
